Hello, I'm Sarah, Founder of Kalmi

Kalmi is a human-centred AI studio.

We design workshops, provide consulting, and build AI tools that genuinely support people, not pressure them.

In a world where technology often asks humans to move faster, think harder, and do more, Kalmi takes a different approach. We believe AI should reduce cognitive load, build confidence, and support people to navigate work, life, and emotional complexity with more clarity and care.

Sometimes people need professional help.

Sometimes they just need space to think, reflect, or talk something through.

Kalmi exists for those in-between moments, and for the systems that currently leave people carrying too much on their own.

What human-centred AI means to us

Human-centred AI starts with listening.

It means designing tools and experiences around real human needs, not idealised users or abstract efficiency goals. It means being thoughtful about what should be automated, what should stay human, and where technology can quietly help without taking over.

Kalmi focuses on AI that:

  • supports confidence rather than dependence

  • improves capability without overwhelm

  • encourages reflection and clearer thinking

  • respects emotional safety and boundaries

  • complements human services instead of replacing them

We are not interested in hype or hustle culture. We are interested in whether something genuinely makes life easier for the people using it.

Who we work with

Kalmi works with people and organisations who are doing meaningful work, often under pressure, and who want support that actually fits how humans function.

This includes:

Purpose-led organisations and teams
Often supporting communities, services, or staff with limited resources, growing complexity, and high emotional load. We help through human-centred AI workshops, consulting, and custom tools that reduce friction and mental strain without compromising ethics or care.

Small businesses and values-led founders
People who are capable but stretched thin, tired of productivity pressure, and wary of tools that promise everything and deliver complexity. We help them use AI in ways that feel supportive, sustainable, and aligned with how they actually work.

Communities and individuals who fall through the gaps
People who may not have access to consistent support, feel uncomfortable opening up, or simply need a non-judgemental space to think things through. Kalmi builds tools that provide quiet, respectful support without pretending to be a replacement for human connection.

Across all of these, the goal is the same.

Support people where they are, with tools that feel human.

How we work

Kalmi offers:

  • Workshops that demystify AI and build confidence in plain language

  • Consulting to identify where AI can genuinely help and where it should not be used

  • Bespoke tools designed around real workflows, real constraints, and real people

Every engagement starts with understanding the problem properly. Not just the surface issue, but the human experience underneath it.

We design slowly enough to get it right, and intentionally enough to avoid harm.

A studio shaped by lived experience

Kalmi is a woman-owned, regional Australian business, led by a neurodivergent founder with lived experience of mental health challenges, isolation, and navigating systems that do not always fit the people they are meant to serve.

That lived experience informs how Kalmi approaches accessibility, tone, safety, and care. It is why our tools feel calm rather than clinical, and why our workshops focus on confidence rather than capability theatre.

This is not about replacing professionals or human services.

It is about bridging gaps, reducing strain, and offering support when it is needed most.

Where Kalmi is heading

Kalmi is growing thoughtfully.

From a small studio today to a broader collective tomorrow, the intention remains the same. To build ethical, human-centred AI that helps people think more clearly, feel more supported, and navigate complexity with less weight on their shoulders.

If you believe AI should be calm, ethical, and genuinely useful, you are already aligned with Kalmi.
